Acrylic on canvas | 54 × 73 cm

This couldn’t be the last piece by accident. It had to be.

The 1985 Live Aid performance is considered the greatest live performance the world has ever seen. In just 21 minutes, Freddie Mercury took control of Wembley, 72,000 people, and nearly two billion viewers across the planet. They didn’t rehearse with the other artists. They simply walked on stage and did it.

The challenge was capturing that energy without containing it. Without framing it too tightly, without making it feel static. At first, I thought the colors didn’t work together, the orange, yellow, pinks, violets. But I kept building it little by little, and it started to come alive.

And then I added the miniature figures.

That was it. That was the moment I fell in love with this piece. The figures give scale to something that otherwise would just be color. They make you understand the magnitude of what you’re looking at.

I think it’s my favorite piece in the entire collection. And I think if you ever have it hanging in your home, you’ll always understand why.
